"Irrational" Iran can't get nuclear arms: Netanyahu

www.msnbc.msn.com

WASHINGTON — "Irrational regimes" like Iran cannot be allowed to have nuclear arms and it is a mistake to think Tehran's ambitions can be contained, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on U.S. television.

Netanyahu, who met President Barack Obama last week during a visit to Washington and New York, told "Fox News Sunday" that Iran was "just moving on with its efforts" to develop nuclear weapons -- a prospect he called "very, very dangerous."

Asked whether a nuclear Iran could be contained, he said: "No, I don't. I think that's a mistake, and I think people fall

This might be reaching just a bit, but it seems Netanyahu might be getting a bit desparate. Why do you think this might be?

Israel, who has nuclear weapons, and has attacked countries, and seems constantly of the verge of attacking countries and attacking Iran's nuclear sites is not being pressured to either disarm or join the NPT.

That's fine. This is their prerogative. They're "unique" and have unique safety considerations.

But to call another country who does not yet have nuclear weapons and is signatory to the NPT either irresponsible of irrational seems a bit much. There is no evidence that says that even if Iran were to have nuclear weapons they would use them. They could not be contained? Does Netanyahu honestly believe Iran would fire nukes at will? What other country has done that? What evidence is there that Iran would? This is his opinion.

Oh. Wait. If they're not shooting them off at whim, they might sell the weapons to terrorists. Well, I'd say Netanyahu ought to be more worried about missing nukes from Ukraine and the U.S. and the nukes in Pakistan if that were really his concern.

They may not be able to make Nuclear arms, but they apparently can make enriched uranium.

Gee cause the current Israeli leadership isn't even a tad bit "irrational" is it?

Come on, people are starting to see through Netanyahu's shenanigans ans empty words.

This is why they are desperate, they no longer have that credibility.

I for one hope Iran does get a nuclear weapon so they can tell the rest of the world to shove it. Then they can move on to finding better leadership without sanctions and the starving of the people.

This hatred between the two goes all the way back to when the Bible was written so it's no surprise that Israel would be worried about these individuals getting nuclear weapons since Israel knows more than any one else how much these people want to blow them off the face of the map.

Saw that.

Have you seen this? This story was kind of buried...this agreement where Iran is trying to cooperate about concerns.

Iran to ship low-enriched uranium to Turkey

Wow, interesting, so Iran will make 20% enriched uranium, transfer it overseas and receive more enriched uranium in return. Sounds like a good deal for Iran.

To think Iran hasn't purchased a Nuclear Weapon from Russia, or a break-away USSR nation, in the last few decades is IMO total crap.

Even if it was just to back-engineer one, or whatever.

If someone accused you of having a gun and were coming over your house to shoot you because of it... Wouldn't you go out and buy one.. Quickly?

I'm kind of leaning toward Iran possibly having a couple of those nukes that went missing from Ukraine a few years back. It the U.S, and Israel know this, it might explain some of their actions and words.

Or maybe they just don't know for sure but just suspect, in which case it would be pretty stupid to keep pressuring Iran?

Didn't Iran supposedly purchase some nukes from South Africa. I guess even if they didn't, there are many other ways Iran could get their hands on WMDs.

I think they're transferring some to Turkey and another country as part of them appeasing the IAEA and UN...this happened a bit ago. I'm not sure what grade. I'd need to go look, and frankly, I probably wouldn't understand it. If someone knows...feel free to jump in.

Edit to say...okay I looked it up. Apparently, low-grade uranium ore mined typically contains 0.01 to 0.25% uranium oxides, so I guess 20% means it's low-grade?

No i'll tell you what is "very, very dangerous." and thats having religious freaks in iserail that want to destroy the temple mount and to bring about the end times and haveing the ears of most politicans to do so because the zionist bankers can aford to have them all on the pay roll.

The UN should demand the USA take back the nukes from Iserail and then maybe they would behave themselves a little bit better.

FFS they kill 9 peace protestors and want the world to pitty them as they bring terror to every other country in the middle east and next thing we know is he will be reminding us about the 6m jewish people killed in the second world war whislt at the same time making it an offence to question the numer of jewish people killed along with 20m russians.

You're absolutely right, it would be easy for Iran to obtain nukes alone through back-door activities. Unfortunately so can any other stable country with an decent economy. Maybe if Iranian nuclear weapons are so concerning to the US, they would focus their attention on most of the world instead of select and rich middle eastern countries.

People who believe in this crap about Iran nukes and Iraq WMD (such a vague term with no real object even) shouldn't have a voice, because the world would be much better off. It's pure garbage and is only good in understanding how exploitable American-alligned people think.

I'm pretty sure Nkorea has given them a working nuclear weapon.
.. it would explain why Nkorea is constantly switching 'attitudes' toward the US.
they want to be able to easily strike the west, and not appear to be breaking any agreements.

Do you think N. Korea really developed their own, or did they too get one from elsewhere.

No doubt they had help. But it was largely their own creation.
It was rather crude.

That's what I remember reading too. If Iran does have them, they probably came from Ukraine...via whatever channels they got out of there by.

It seems there've been more than a few cases of "missing" nukes over the past 8 years or so.

God, not the 'Yellow Cake' and WMD's script again? Are we really going to let them use the same script... again?!? They could at least change a few scenes around or pull a false flag off first, they really are running out of rhetoric but hey it fooled most of us the first time.

Who's the real threat to the area?

Let's see, we have Persia/Iran, founded roughly around 4200 BC, no nuclear arsenal... then we have Pallestine, which was settled by Homo Erectus as much as 1.5 million years ago which is now little more than a concentration camp, and then we have Israel founded in 1948 AD, armed to the teeth with nuclear weapons. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

Same script is right. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the world's missing nukes should happen to show up (planted) in Iran if or when we ever get in there to search for them.
